Chyna M. Melton is a Senior Director of Government Relations at the Madison Group. Prior to joining the Madison Group, Chyna was a Political Appointee Advisor to the Executive Assistant Director (EAD) for the Infrastructure Security Division (ISD) at the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA).

 

Before her role at CISA, Chyna served as Legislative Aide for Former Congressman Cedric L. Richmond (D-LA) where she advised the Member on legislative matters, formulated vote recommendations, collaborated with constituents and external stakeholders to draft and introduce legislation. During her time in Mr. Richmond’s office, Chyna built coalitions that enabled the passage of the CROWN Act (Creating a Respectful and Open World for Natural hair) twice in the House of Representatives and was later introduced in the Senate. Chyna also served as Digital Press Secretary for Former Congresswoman Val Butler-Demings (D-FL) and started her career in politics as an Emerging Leaders intern for the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation (CBCF).

 

Chyna is Brooklyn born and Raeford, North Carolina raised. She graduated from Appalachian State University with a Bachelor of Science in Political Science and a minor in Communications. She has also obtained her master’s degree from The George Washington University in Political Management, Strategic Public Relations. Chyna is a proud member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Incorporated.
